Pre-Bench Workout for Your Paints
When you hit the gym, you don’t start by deadlifting 300 lbs — you warm up, stretch, maybe do a little cardio. Same goes for your paints. If you want buttery flow and flawless finishes, treat your acrylics to a proper pre-bench workout. Here’s my ritual:
Warm It Up: Pop your paints, top coats, and SlipMix (more on that soon) into a cup of water on a USB mug warmer for 2 minutes. Keep it low — around 90–100°F. You’re warming up, not making stew.
Shake It Out: After their hot bath, shake vigorously for several seconds. Bonus points (and happy arms!) if you’ve got a Vortex or nail polish mixer.
Pro Tip: Add a couple of ball bearings to your bottles. They’ll pulverize clumps like a blender in beast mode.
Strain for Purity: Run your mix through a reusable 190-micron strainer. My skepticism vanished after a few flawless gloss coats.
This ritual helps prevent clogs, streaks, and heartbreak. Nail your prep, and your paint will reward you with smooth, even coverage every time.

WORK IN PROGRESS
Let's travel back in time for a bit and check out the amazing work @somazeon is doing with older kits and even vintage kits. Here, we are treated to a HGUC Zogok custom crafted to a retro 80's Zeon aesthetic. Inspired by the original box art, this Zogok has been modified using putty and patience! This builder has several more retro-style kits that give a refreshing take on the hobby.
This frame glows! Awesome work by modeler @cr.stidio on this MG Nu Gundam. The outer armor features crisp color separation, deep navy and bright white contrast, and a smart use of orange hits to keep the visual rhythm tight. Clean decals across the panels amplify the Ver.Ka-style realism, and the finished silhouette feels cinematic from every angle. Once the armor was added, the glow accents took this kit to another level. Using UV-reactive highlights throughout the joints, vents, and chest, the entire suit comes alive under blacklight. The luminous cyan lines read like Psycho-Frame energy pulsing through the mobile suit — especially during poses or mid-flight shots. What a time to be a Gunpla fan! That GFFMC Wing Zero Cloaked Custom is an instant grail piece at $380.
The IBO 10th anniversary MG Barbatos Lupus is finally here, and by all accounts, it's lived up to the hype. That Valkyrja Buster Sword expansion is going to make it even better!
December is stacked with that MGEX Strike Freedom Twilight Coating leading the charge, and the Clear Virtue dropping THIS WEEK is going to be a stunner. The Gundam Card Game championships are heating up worldwide, and the Hatsune Miku collab in the Gundam Metaverse is one of the wildest crossovers we've seen.
And we're THIS CLOSE to finding out what April-June 2026 holds. Could this finally be the moment we get that RG Gundam X? Time will tell!
